Growing up is basically accepting change

Spring is here. And with it comes change in clothes, smells, scenery and food. It also reminded me of some things that will never come back.

Every year, there will be something or someone that will not see the new spring season. Your kids will become ever so slightly smarter. They will not ask that silly question ever again. There will be one spring after which you will never lift them in your arms again.

Your one friend that changed jobs will never talk to you about the same topic again. You will never drive in your first car again. You will never re-experience that feeling again.

Next year, jobs themselves will never be the same again. It is AI today, it will be humanoid robots tomorrow.

Some may see it as a tragedy. But I see it, perhaps, as simply growing up. It is essentially recognizing that change is life. You will never be the same person again. World will never be the same again. And it is fine. Life will come and go. If we cling to the past, the way things were, we will perpetually be in a state of denial, never unlocking growth.

It’s time to stop resisting the tide—and learn to ride the wave.
